Georgia International Convention Center
College Park, GA (May 2003) -Completion was achieved in February on the new Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, Georgia.
Juba Aluminum Products acted as the glass and glazing subcontractor performing the sophisticated and complex exterior curtainwall requirements, completing the facility on time and within budget. Tony Dockery, Project Manager, says the project's success was due to the collaborative effort between Holder Construction - general contractor, Juba Aluminum Products, and Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart and Associates - architects and American Resurgens Management Corporation - owner representatives. "We worked diligently with subcontractors and consultants like Miller-Clapperton Partnership, Williams Erection, Williamson and Associates, and the Owner's Representative (American Resurgens Management Corporation) to coordinate schedules, make water tight, and install this complex skin package," said Dockery.
"This was a successful and rewarding project that offered us some extreme challenges. In terms of project details and intricacies of design, the GA International Convention Center was challenging with respect to the SGC rating and radius glass wall tilting earthward; special frame units with 1" glass and 4" air space with 9/16" laminated glass," said John Juba, President.
The new Georgia International Convention Center is a regional and national trade show, meetings, event and multi-purpose facility owned and operated by the City of College Park. The facility is located in the heart of the Gateway Center Complex, conveniently located at the intersection of Camp Creek Parkway and Roosevelt Highway.
